Chelsea made Everton and Aaron Lenon confident

The FA Cup win over Chelsea has not only made Everton confident about reaching the semifinals of the competition, but it has also made them fearless according to winger Aaron Lennon.

The former Tottenham man has been getting more first-team opportunities since his move to the Merseyside on a permanent deal in the summer. The 28-year-old has already made more appearances in the league than he did with Tottenham – across all competitions – in his final campaign with the club. The regular first-team football that the player has been getting is starting to show in his end product.

Lennon has never been a prolific scorer. Instead, he has primarily been a creator of chances. It is not surprising that he has never scored more than five goals in a full campaign. However, he has already created his best ever season by scoring six with Everton. He did not score against Chelsea, but he did score in the last two games. The goals against Aston Villa and West Ham have improved his confidence, but it is yet to translate to the whole team. Everton continue to surrender many points as a result of defensive lapses. The latest of the same came in the 3-2 loss against West Ham United during last weekend. Continue reading “Chelsea made Everton and Aaron Lenon confident”

Manchester City is on the verge of signing Fabian Delph

Manchester City’s Manuel Pellegrini is searching around the transfer market for players that can reinforce the midfield department of his squad and Aston Villa’s Fabian Delph is a performer that has entered the radar of the Chilean manager.

Frank Lampard,Michah Richards and Scott Sinclair and James Milner have already seen their way out of the Etihad Stadium and now Manuel Pellegrini has the task of filling up the spots which have been left weakened as well as vulnerable.

The Premier League title is a piece of silverware that Pellegrini and Manchester City are aiming to win in the next season and reinforcing the squad is something that must be done in order to compete against the likes of: Chelsea and Manchester United.

Fabian Delph played a huge role for Aston Villa in the previous season as he became the captain of the Premier League club and was one of the main reasons on why his club managed to stay alive in the top tier England league and avoid getting relegated.

The 25 year old English midfielder has a contract with Aston Villa which extends until 2019 and Fabian Delph has a buyout clause of €8 million. Manchester City is preparing to pay the price in order to sign him and if everything goes according to plan, he might be signed by Manchester City in the summer transfer window. Aaron Lennon could return to the Merseyside

Aaron Lennon could return to the Merseyside on a permanent basis after it is believed that the Evertonians are keenly looking forward to signing the England international.

The club have been in discussions with Tottenham for the last couple of weeks after it became apparent that Lennon did not have a future at White Hart Lane. He had spent the last six months on loan at Everton and they seemed as the likely destination for the 28-year-old. However, one aspect that remains to be sorted as the transfer fee. Spurs are known as very hard negotiators and are unlikely to let Lennon leave on a cheap despite the player not figuring in the plans of manager Mauricio Pochettino.

It is reported that Lennon has a £ 9 million transfer fee on his head and this was proving to be the stumbling block. Everton are not willing to pay more than £ 5 million for the player knowing very well that he will have little resale value at the end of a four or five-year contract. Lennon had shown enough during the last six months that he can be part of the Everton team and improve the club as a whole. It remains to be seen if he can force his way out of White Hart Lane after being told to train with the youth team in the last few weeks. Aaron Lennon is not keen to make a call on his future in a hurry

Aaron Lennon is not keen to make a call on his future in a hurry. He would be waiting till the time the pre season transfer window is open.

The 28-year old is unwanted at Tottenham and he has already been made aware of that by the club management.

If he stays in the ranks of the Spurs, it’s more than likely that he will have to sit out for the entire duration of the next season.

It’s believed a couple of clubs including Everton had approached Tottenham enquiring for Lennon, but, the talks couldn’t go ahead because of the heavy transfer fee that was demanded.

As the reports suggest, the Spurs want nothing less than 8 million Pounds for Lennon.

Lennon would love to go to Everton as he had been able to find his lost touch there in the latter parts of the previous season and had had decent success finding the net a couple of times in 14 matches.

But, at the moment, he is not forcing the issue. He knows if he waits a little bit, Tottenham will have no option, but, to drop the transfer fee that they are demanding, otherwise, they will put themselves in danger of not getting even a penny for him as his contract is going to expire next summer. Aaron Lennon joined Everton earlier in February of 2015

Aaron Lennon joined Everton earlier in February of 2015 as the English player completed his move from White Hart Lane to Goodison Park in a transfer which lasts until the end of the current season.

The footballer who was named as the ‘’Young Player of the Year’’ for Leeds United during the season of 2004-05, Aaron Lennon is going through an impressive form with Everton as he has helped the Premier League club in their quest of avoiding the bottom relegation zone and the side of Roberto Martinez are safely away from being relegated as they are located in the middle section of the English League.

Roberto Martinez is head coach of Everton and the manager has already stated that he is impressed by what Aaron Lennon has been doing in the club and a permanent deal could be agreed if Lennon continues on performing at this high level.

When Everton was facing off with Swansea City on April 11, Aaron Lennon rescued one point for his interim team as he scored the only goal of his club in a match that ended with a 1-1 draw. Lennon also found the back of the net during Everton’s match QPR which was played a few weeks ago in March. Continue reading “Aaron Lennon joined Everton earlier in February of 2015”
