SPURS MISS OUT

With Arsenal somehow managing to scrape a win in the dying minutes on Sunday, Tottenham Hotspur will once again be pushed out of the Champions League spots and may well face a player exodus in the summer.

Whilst the team have definitley progressed under Andre Villas-Boas since he started, he has still struggled to get the team playing with the consistency they needed in order to guarantee a top-4 finish. At one stage this season they were 12 points ahead of Arsenal, but over a dour February and March the Gunners somehow managed to claw the deficit back, and take the fourth spot by just one point.

It was thought that this would be a make-or-break season for Spurs – having narrowly missed out on Champions League football last season solely because Chelsea won the competition and took the fourth English space, they convinced their top players to stay on the premise that they would make it this year. They haven’t.

It’s believed that Gareth Bale, arguably the star performer in the whole of the Premier League this season, will move on to a bigger stage, which may well prompt others, including Aaron Lennon, to consider their futures.

Meanwhile there is expected to be a clear-out of the club’s attacking options, with Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor being shown the door if the right bid comes along. The latest online betting at williamhill shows that many believe that Defoe will be returning to the club he started with in the Premier League – West Ham – whilst Adebayor is a target for Monaco.
