SPURS CLOSE IN ON NEILTON

Reports have been emerging claiming that Tottenham Hotspur are edging closer and closer on signing the player who has been dubbed as: ‘’The New Neymar’’. Neilton is a 19 years old forward of Santos and by next year he will be out of contract, to make matters more interesting Santos still have not reached an agreement with the player concerning a new deal.

Tottenham Hotspur are trying to build a young, energetic team mixed with experience and this is becoming more evident after one of their most recent signings Erik Lamela who recently scored his 1st goal with the Premier League team.

The 21 years old player Erik Lamela scored the opening goal of Tottenham’s match against Sheriff in their Europa League encounter.

‘’It was a very emotional evening because I scored my first goal. I’m very happy about that and very happy that we won as well. We have a very strong squad and it is very competitive. We always want to do well in all the tournaments we play in. All our players are strong, whatever their position, and [on the right wing] there are two or three players who know the position well’’. Erik Lamela said.

They suffered from a 6-0 defeat when playing against Manchester City and recorded their biggest Premier League defeat in 17 years. The manager of Tottenham Andre Villas-Boas spoke about the recent defeat and said:

“We have to be ashamed of a result like this; to lose 6-0 is extremely embarrassing.”

It will come to no surprise if Tottenham are in search of certain players during the winter transfer window as reinforcements might be just what they need to evade further defeats such as this one and make the proper title charge. Since the season of 2009-10 Tottenham have been finishing the season in top 5 spots of the Premier League.

AVB HAS 10 YEARS LEFT

The manager of Tottenham Hotspur, Andre Villas-Boas, has said that he will finish his managerial career inside the next 10 years as he has a strong desire to take part in Dakar Rally.

This is really a shocking statement as Boas is only 35 years of age at the moment. He has managed only a few clubs in his career so far, but, he has been rated very highly in England. The football pundits say that he has the capability to become one of the best managers of all times.

Boas had joined Tottenham Hotspur at the start of the last season after having a dreadful run with Chelsea. At White Hart Lane, Boas made his mark in the very first season. He guided the team to the 5th position in the Premier League.

The Spurs just got beaten by the Gunners as far as the Champions League qualification is concerned, but, they played impressive football throughout the season and a lot of credit for that goes to Boas.

When asked how long he will continue managing teams, Boas said, “I will retire inside the next 10 years. I believe that everything has a limit. If you do things beyond limit, it’s not good.”

“I am passionate about participating in the Dakar Rally. I have to do it at some point of time in my life and I can do that only if I end my managerial career.”

“I have no idea how much success I will achieve as a racer, but, one thing I know for sure is that my career isn’t going to last long.”

When asked about the reports of Gareth Bale’s transfer, Boas said, “I want to make it clear that Gareth is not leaving the club. He hasn’t been put on sale. I have been clearly told by the chairman not to accept any bids for Gareth.”

SPURS MISS OUT

With Arsenal somehow managing to scrape a win in the dying minutes on Sunday, Tottenham Hotspur will once again be pushed out of the Champions League spots and may well face a player exodus in the summer.

Whilst the team have definitley progressed under Andre Villas-Boas since he started, he has still struggled to get the team playing with the consistency they needed in order to guarantee a top-4 finish. At one stage this season they were 12 points ahead of Arsenal, but over a dour February and March the Gunners somehow managed to claw the deficit back, and take the fourth spot by just one point.
